Each year, an increasing number of our fellow Kent County residents face significant transportation challenges, whether to medical appointments, grocery shopping, or social activities. Without reliable transportation, many can become isolated, which can affect their health, well-being, and quality of life. At HomePorts, our mission is to make sure that no one faces this alone.
Founded in 2008, we are a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the aging members of our community by providing essential transportation services and fostering a sense of connection and support.
Our continuing aim is to keep building momentum and to enhance the lives of the people we serve, but WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOUR HELP!
For the 2025-26 Appeal Season, we’ve set an ambitious goal of $40,000 and, with the help of a generous long-time supporter who will match dollar-for-dollar our individual contributions this year, we will get there! Monies raised this year will ensure we can –
We believe that every senior deserves access to transportation, companionship, and a vibrant community. With your support, we can continue to meet these needs and ensure no senior is left behind.
At HomePorts, we help adults 55+ in Kent County stay healthy, safe, and independent in the homes they love.
Through transportation, health advocacy, and connections to vital resources, we ensure that aging in place isn’t just possible — it’s supported. Your generosity helps us provide these essential services to the people who need them most.
Whether you’re looking to give today or plan for the future, there are meaningful ways to support our mission — and maximize the benefits of your gift. Click on the buttons below to find out more.
Smart Ways to Make an Immediate Impact
Example: Donating Stock vs. Selling First (for a Maryland Resident)
This example assumes a donor with long-term gains and taxable income in a range where capital gains are taxed at 15% federally and 5.75% by the state of Maryland. Please consult your tax advisor to confirm your own eligibility and tax impact.
If you’re age 70½ or older, you can donate to Homeports directly from your IRA using a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). This can be a tax-efficient way to meet your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) while making a meaningful gift.
Why give from your IRA?
You can give up to $100,000 each year from your IRA — and if you’re married and both spouses qualify, you can each give separately.
Leave a Legacy of Care
Planned giving is simply making a commitment today for a gift that Homeports will receive in the future. It’s one of the most powerful ways to ensure your values continue to shape your
community, even after your lifetime.
Common Legacy Giving Options
Legacy gifts of all sizes help sustain Homeports for future generations — and often cost nothing today.
Donate your used car, van, truck, motorcycle, boat with a trailer, RV, or airplane and help HomePorts today! Running or not. All 50 states + DC. Payment within 1-2 weeks of sale.
HomePorts’ Vehicle Donation program gives supporters a powerful way to contribute to our goal of helping Kent County residents ages 55+ remain independent, healthy and safe in their own homes. A proven means of raising monies for non-profit organizations, the HomePorts Vehicle Donation Program mirrors that of many 501(c)(3) groups utilizing this means of driving community involvement and contributions. Well-known organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross have long had these types of programs in place.
The HomePorts Vehicle Donation Program accepts cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, RVs, golf carts and farm equipment. Running or not. And the process is simple and straightforward. Simply click here or on the button (to the right/left/above) and complete the online vehicle donation form with information regarding the vehicle you’d like to donate. Our partner will reach out within 24 hours to help you finalize details of the donation and arrange pick-up of your vehicle.
Whether you want to give now or leave a gift later, we’re here to answer your questions and help
you explore the best options for you and your family.
