What is HomePorts?
Founded in 2008, HomePorts is a membership organization helping older adults continue living safely and comfortably in their own homes. Set up by and for local residents, HomePorts is incorporated as a Maryland nonprofit.
Who is eligible?
Those eligible for membership include anyone over 55 living in the greater Kent County area. HomePorts is modeled after similar organizations operating successfully in other regions of the country. Founding members spent two years studying other such “villages”, which are springing up rapidly in many communities and are cited by experts as the wave of the future.
Where is the HomePorts office?
HomePorts maintains an office on the 2nd floor of the Chestertown Town Hall. Call for an appointment.

In addition, nearly 80 volunteers are available to provide many services at no cost. Our staff is available to arrange the volunteer services you request and to follow up to ensure you received the level of service you deserve.
A cadre of local volunteers can provide local rides, make home visits, and run errands. Volunteers are the lifeblood of HomePorts.
HomePorts maintains a list of local business providers, whom members pay directly. HomePorts screens all of our providers for honesty, reliability, expertise, fair pricing and quality of workmanship. A single phone call to the Executive Director puts you in touch with recommended, reliable services.
